...is the United States. I just made this as a joke during an IM conversation, and thought it bore repeating. Makes a scary kind of sense. Also funny.
I submit as evidence, our latest enduring reality TV craze: American Idol, the Apprentice, and assorted other knock-off shows.
We are such a damn democratic society, that we elect our next music stars. With the "advice and consent" of the judging panels, of course. Just to keep things fairly balanced and constitutional.
And the judges, of course, are appointed for life or until resignation. The symmetry is amazing. And I worried that we were not cognizane enough of our constitutional heritage.

*laughs* however, unless i'm mistaken, i believe american idol was originally concieved in britain(however, it's entirely possible i'm wrong, since even now i care not one jot for the show.)
eitherway, though, it's a lovely analogy.

you know what america's most abundant resource is? Thats right, democracy, not coal. We have so much of this lovely resource we export it for free. Sometimes we even give the other guy money along with the democracy...just a thought

I'd still say our most abundant resouce is human stupidity, but, I suppose democracy is close behind
